New options for memberships and pay as you go classes
Hi yogis. I’ve got several exciting new updates, and options I’m trying out to grow my business. Read on below to find out what’s new.
Rocket Yoga temporary time change
Rocket Yoga, formerly known as Power Yoga, is moving to 4:30 pm starting this Friday, and continuing through April 2nd. The Zoom and Live Class schedules are correct.
New Pay As You Go Model
I’m introducing a new way to practice with me without a membership, and that is Pay As You Go Yoga Classes. If you are someone who only practices yoga a few times a month, this could be your best value. Each class is $12.00, and includes the live version of the class on Zoom. This could also be a great way to invite a new person to class that isn’t ready to commit to a membership. Members and non-members will now be able to practice on screen with each other.
New Pay What You Can Memberships
It’s hard to believe, but we’re coming up on one year of virtual classes. My last class I taught at The Y was oddly enough one that I subbed on Sunday, March 13, 2020, and the very next day gyms were shut down. Just a few days later on March 16 I launched my virtual classes, and we’ve been going strong ever since. In the beginning it was strictly donation based, but after a few months I decided to move my classes to Patreon. My studio launched on this website at the end of summer, and I hope it will be here for many years to come.
As I look to the future, I need to reevaluate my pricing. My goal is for yoga to be affordable, yet still be competitive with studios in the area. Instead of making one blanket price increase, I’m launching Pay What You Can Memberships. There is now one plan with multiple suggested price points based on how much you practice. This unlimited plan includes all live and on demand classes. I have phased out the on demand only plan.
If you are someone that practices two or three times a week, your suggested membership would be $39.99 a month, which would make each class only cost around $4.00. If you feel you can pay more, there are options to do that. However, it’s important to note that your access would not be limited by subscribing to a lower cost plan. While the $19.99 a month and on demand only plans are no longer an option to purchase, I’m not going to kick anyone off that chooses to stay on them.
To compare, here is what area studios are charging for unlimited virtual memberships
-
502 Power Yoga – $54.00/month
-
Yoga East – $69.00/month
-
Exhale Yoga – $89.00/month
-
Infinite Bliss – $150.00/month (no virtual only option)
The new Pay What You Can Memberships to The Yoga Matt range in price from $29.99 to $59.99 a month. If you purchase a 12 months membership, you will receive two months free.
To move to one of the new memberships, please join from the pricing page, or by visiting “Your Account” at theyogamatt.com. After you join, don’t forget to cancel your old plan, which is also done from “Your Account”.
If you are a former Patreon annual member, you are on a free account that will expire at the end of your 12 month term. Most of these expire in August or September. If you want to move to a new plan before your access ends, please contact me, and I will give you a coupon code for the value you have already paid for.
New Affiliate Program
Check out the newly launched affiliate program, and you can get paid in cash for every paying virtual subscriber that you refer that purchases a membership. You’ll receive a 30% commission for six months, or their first six payments, whichever happens first. Read all about it here. The affiliate program is free to join.
Virtual Yoga Anniversary
March 16 is the one year anniversary for virtual yoga, so let’s celebrate after Yin45. Please sign up for the class on Zoom, and join us afterwards for a chat. Yin45 goes from 6:30 to 7:15 pm. Invite others to join class using the new Pay As You Go Yoga Classes page if they aren’t already a member. See you there!
